There's a new sheriff in town

So Mountain Dew is no longer the king of soda pop caffeine. The winner? The new Pepsi Max. I was also completely amused by the number of commenters going WTF?! on the inclusion of Diet Cheerwine. Growing up in NC had its advantages, and Cheerwine was definitely one of those advantages.

Actually, I call complete bullshit on this list, as neither Jolt Cola nor Double Jolt Cola made the list. Trust me: those cans of No Doz enhanced glucose are much higher in content than any of those colored bubbly waters listed.

1 OMG I LOVE CHEERWINE. Damn I miss it.

2 I recall when it was introduced - rogrammer fuel no other softdrink could match. I also remember the tagline from their original ads: All the sugar and twice the caffeine. A can of Jolt and a donut or two - what a wake-up call!

3 I remember the tagline as well; it's printed on every can. Imagine my horror when I saw Double Jolt Cola in the store. Not the caffeine, though: the sugar. I remember my 8:00 a.m. biology lecture class, which always fell on a day after I'd worked until 1:00 a.m. or so. I'd grab a Jolt and jelly donut on the way to class. That would keep me alert for about 45 minutes, at which time the sugar lapse coma would hit. Eh, the class was pretty boring anwyay.

4 I tried Diet Pepsi Max recently and thought it was pretty good-- better than Jolt from what I remember it tasting like. The website www.wakeuppeople.com is pretty cute too. I have definitely not heard of Cheerwine but I also didn't grow up in NC :-)

5 Ah. I haven't seen Jolt in years (I hang out in the wrong grocery stores, I guess), so my only exposure to the cans in some years has been pictures of the Jolt Awards.

6 Personally, I'm a big fan of both Jolt and Vault. By the way, Jolt now comes in 23.5 ounce cans, and includes a diet version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolt_Cola Oh, and the reason Jolt & Vault didn't make the list (as explained way down in the comments section) is that they're considered "energy drinks", and the list is discussing only normal soft drinks.

7 Does anyone remember triple jolt? Do they still sell double jolt?
