Sometimes, things change

Like, say, the production team for the show that booted you. In any event, looks like Paige Davis will be back on Trading Spaces. Excerpt:

"It's not something I ever would have considered," Davis told the Daily News during a break in production Friday. "My departure was very bad; it was a decision I didn't understand, why it had been made. I didn't understand why it was done in a harsh manner. I was pretty hurt by the people who were running TLC at the time."

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that getting smashed and shoving your hooters around in public may not be best public face. Not that I'm opposed to cute drunk women squeezing their boobs for me. Actually, it was only through the aid of the divine substance known as alcohol that any women would actually look at me in college. If any had shoved their breasts in my face, it would have been a bonus. Unrealistic and delusional of course, but still a bonus.

I thought that i was the only one

Turns that Glenn Reynolds and I have the same taste in old science fiction shows. Of course, Reynolds watches The Time Tunnel whilst sitting on his dark throne, sipping his puppy, while I tend to opt for a Guiness. To each his own.

Must not see TV

Maxim has compiled a list of the Top Ten Shows We Won't Watch during the upcoming season. Excerpt:

9. Dr. Steve-O (USA Network)

Whoa—Jackass’s Steve-O and Trishelle from Real World/Road Rules: Whore Olympics…in the same show! In Dr. Steve-O, the grizzled reality-TV pair will make their way from one viewer-nominated sad case to another, attempting to de-wussify (their word, not ours) the poor blokes before the hour is out. A press release notes that the show will also feature “shockingly hilarious stunts” and “embarrassingly funny and demented dares.” And to think that we used to dump on USA for its thrice-daily Walker, Texas Ranger reruns.
...
2. Cavemen (ABC)

We’ve always found Geico’s “Caveman” commercials moderately entertaining, even if they never prompted us to purchase insurance or ridicule a specific racial or ethnic group. This show, however, appears to be setting its sights a bit higher, billing itself as “a hilarious and thought-provoking social commentary on race relations in today’s America.” Are networks allowed to cancel a show mid-episode? We’re about to find out.

1. The Return of Jezebel James (Fox)

This one doesnÂ’t debut until November-ish, so thereÂ’s plenty of time for somebody to tweak, rework, or euthanize it. Suffice it to say that Parker Posey will have to appear in 47 New York-based indie films and date 226 indie singer/songwriters to restore her street cred. To view the worst trailer in the history of the genre, click here.

Thank goodness I have lots of DVDs and books lying around the house. Eesh.

Update: Consider yourself bitten.

For all you BSG fans out there

Looks like you might be forced to sit through some episodes of The Flash. Okay, it doesn't entirely suck, but it isn't very good. Anyway, excerpt:

Beginning in October, SCI FI will air Battlestar Galactica "mini-sodes" entitled "Razor" during episodes of the hit series Flash Gordon, Fridays at 9 p.m. The two-to-three-minute shorts will lead into the Nov. 24 premiere of "Razor," the two-hour Battlestar special TV movie, which will tell the story of Lee Adama's (Jamie Bamber) first mission as commander of the Battlestar Pegasus and will reveal the story of how Adm. Cain (Michelle Forbes) served her ship during the original Cylon attack on the Colonies. "Razor," which airs at 9 p.m., will provide a backdrop to events in the rest of Battlestar, which returns for its fourth and final season in early 2008.

Hit series The Flash? What, exactly, constitutes "hit" ratings for a SciFi original series? Mind you, I've liked quite a few of them, but I think that it's a question worth asking. Whenever a series is touted as "must see" or "surefire hit" on network TV, I can almost guarantee that it's destined for the round file.

Possible good news for Buffy fans

Joss Whedon might finally make that TV special chronicling the exploits of the Taster's Choice guy, err, the Ripper. Only a few years overdue, but it'll probably be pretty good.

Browncoat alert

It appears as though the SciFi channel will be airing a Firefly marathon tomorrow. However, I'll be at work AND I own the DVDs. Might be a good way to pass the time if you're at home, though.

Tangentially related updated: Nathan Fillion decides to play house in Season 4 of Desparate Housewives. He will do so opposite the always yummy Dana Delany. Lucky bastard.

24 update

So the producers of 24 are going to have Jack Bauer before a Senate panel being investigated for his various, umm, questionable activities during season 6. Who are they kidding? Jack Bauer will rip their eyes out and piss on their brains, just for fun.

Please God, no!

A Sex and the City movie?! Seriously? The reason that you make a movie from a TV show is to do, say and/or show things that the audience hasn't seen before. Absolutely none of that applies to the aforementioned show. Crap, I think that I'm more familiar with Kim Catrall's vaginia than her gynecologist. And what hanging storyline is there left to wrap up? SJP landed Mr. Big, Charlotte got her baby, the redhead was happily married and Catrall was happily boinking some guy who turned out gay on Brothers and Sisters. Maybe the studio thinks-wrongly- that everyone is dying to see another $40k spent on ugly ass shoes.

To be fair, I remember Kim's role as "Lassie" in Porky's quite fondly, I think that Kristin Davis is pretty hot and I've like Cynthia since The Manhattan Project. And moonbat that she is, I've always been fond of SJP's work. So if you really want my money, have the four of them go at it buck naked in a vat of Jello for and hour and a half. THAT might be worth parting with some money to see, but that's about it.

Looking for old HBO series

Back in 1994, HBO aired 13 episodes of a series called Hardcore TV. It contained some real oddities and unusual parodies such as:

1) a commercial for The Pubic Hair Club for Men

2) Fairytales From the Dark Side

3) a Bob Vila spoof where Bob and Norm spoke like they were from the hood

Anyway, I've spent some time trying to find old episodes, even ones on tape. Apparently HBO has not released, and does not plan to release these episodes on DVD. Ever. Also, I cannot find even bootleg copies on YouTube, Google video, or Bittorrent, which is a decent indication of how rare any copies must be.

My search is hampered a bit by the fact that there is or was, apparently, a wrestling showed called by the same name. Regardless, I'd lie to put my hands on copies of these episodes. If anyone has them, drop me a line. It would be appreciated.

You dog

Dave at Garfield Ridge got to spend two days on the set of BSG. I believe that I speak for many scifi geeks when I offer him both my congratulations and my sincere hope that he get teleported to some distant planet populated by slavering beasts with a taste for humans.

Not that I'm jealous or anything.

Eat me!

Because everyone loves commercials with people dressed up like food. Right? Regardless, the videos in this article are fairly amusing. I have to say that I agree completely with the description of the Domino's Fudgems at #6: a furry cube of feces.

Holy cr*p!

Remember what Go Daddy.com's business is? Me either. However, I do remember the Go Daddy girl, Candice Michelle. Apparently Candace deemed the wardrobe malfunction that we saw during the Superbowl a little too conservative, which forced her to go for the Full Candance Monty. NSFW images below the fold. more...

I'm not a coffee drinker...

But there is one Starbuck that I like. Here's an interview with Katie Sackhoff, figther pilot extraordinaire on BSG.

Thank Dean for the link.

Question: does Katie look like she's in better shape this year? Maybe it's just me, but she sure is looking good this season.

Send in the clowns

It appears that President Hillary! Commander in Chief has been cancelled due to low ratings.

I know why ABC created this show. It wasn't to be cutting edge, or to try something different. The purpose behind this show was to get people in this country used to seeing a female president on television for a few years before Hillary runs in 2008. Unfortunately for ABC, their caricatured description of DC(Geena Davis was an Independent, all opposition dicks were Republicans, Democrats apparently didn't exist), the show wasn't entertaining, not even the liberal dreamworld fashion of The West Wing. Commander in Chief was simply boring.
